How do I get or rotate an API key?

API access is included with the Pro tier and above. Each subscriber gets one API key by default; you can rotate it (revoke + reissue) anytime. Rate limits depend on tier — see the API docs for details.

Get a new API key

1. Sign in to the Live Atlas.
2. Open the ⚙ Settings panel.
3. Find the API access section.
4. Click Generate API key. A new key starting with ar_live_ appears once. Copy it immediately and save somewhere safe — you cannot view it again.
5. Use it as a Bearer token: Authorization: Bearer ar_live_XXXX...

Rotate (replace) an API key

1. Same Settings → API access section.
2. Click Rotate key. The old key is revoked immediately and a new one is issued.
3. Copy the new key and update your code / scripts.

Why rotate?

• You suspect the key was leaked (committed to git, sent in a Slack message, exposed in logs).
• An employee with access to the key has left.
• Periodic security hygiene (every 90 days is a common cadence).
